I am pleased to announce that following the recent action of the Us TOO Advocacy committee.
Us TOO International has joined several other prostate cancer organizations, such as the National Alliance of State Prostate Cancer Coalitions (NASPCC) and the National Prostate Cancer Coalition (NPCC) in their support of the Thomas J. Manton Prostate Cancer Early Detection and Treatment Act (HR 2131) introduced by Representative Jim Marshall (D-GA) and Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY).
The proposed legislation would authorize federal funding to states for screening and follow-up treatment for men who qualify.
The folks at NPCC tell us that as of October 2007, 59 Representatives and two Senators support this
initiative.Contact your member of Congress today and ask them to support the Thomas J. Manton Prostate Cancer Early Detection and Treatment Act.
A special “Thank You” goes to Lew Musgrove,
the immediate past Chairman of the Us TOO Board of
Directors, an Us TOO Chapter leader and an active Board
member of the NASPCC, for providing a draft Manton Bill letter
for you to use with your members of Congress. He also has developed very useful procedures on how to contact your
representatives.I encourage you to personalize the letter as much as you can – stories, words and passion from individuals is more compelling than sending the same letter over and over. Make your voices heard!!
Thanks to Don Lynam, Chairman of the Us TOO Advocacy Committee and Vice Chairman of the Us TOO Board of Directors, for his leadership. And Thanks also go to the members of the Advocacy Committee as well.
Good luck in your Advocacy efforts, together we can make a difference.
